Movies, for example, like to open themselves up with ‘making of’ documentaries, but these are often self-serving publicity rackets on behalf of the studios and production companies.  Films sometimes contain a film-within-film like Shakespeare’s plays-within-a-play – but what do they tell us about themselves?  How can we trust that what we see is an accurate reflection if we have never seen a movie set or a television studio ‘for real’?
